"A stick of incense left by the corpse of an abandoned whale.
The holier the beast, the more disgusting its change. Here is one that is filled with those hated pustules, discarded on this forgotten part of the hamlet; left to wallow, turn and flop. The tide will never come in so it will be left in the sand where it is now."
